Besuchte die Höhere Töchter Schule in Hamburg, erlangte das Lehrerdiplom am Normal Training Department of the Ethical Culture School in New York.

Laufbahn

Ging 1895 in die USA, 1906 bis 1921 als Lehrerin tätig, war als Gruppenleiterin in der Child Study Association aktiv (später: Study of Child Natur), ab 1921 Direktorin. Lehrte 1928 bis 1938 an der Columbia University und 1936/37 an der New School of Social Work. War 1930, 1940 und 1950 Mitarbeiterin der White-House-Konferenzen, schrieb zahlreiche Werke über heranreifende Kinder.
